Hudson Records

Our label is here for one reason. To help our favourite musicians and songwriters get their music to an audience that will love it and in so doing add a little bit to the sum of human happiness. We aim to create and release records that demand it. We undertake to be transparent and diligent in all of our dealings. We will specialise in folk and acoustic music but there are no boundaries to our tastes; who knows what destinations await! What we do know is that we are working in the rapidly unfolding twenty-first century – and we can’t wait to get started!

Andy Bell

Andy has been producing records for over 15 years, he graduated from Leeds College of Music in 2003 where he was also a full time studio technician. After spending several years recording various Classical and Jazz albums, Andy became the house engineer at Leeders Farm in Norfolk. Here he worked with the likes of Dan Hawkins (The Darkness), Seasick Steve, KT Tunstall and Teenage Fan Club, plying his trade under various great producers, including the wonderful Nick Brine.

After leaving Leeders Farm he established himself as a producer and engineer on the Folk and Acoustic scenes, where he is now one of the most in demand and recognised producers.

Today he works with the likes of Bellowhead, Jon Boden, Martin Simpson, Martin Carthy, Maddy Prior and Seth Lakeman to mention just a few. Many of Andy’s records enjoy national TV, newspaper and radio coverage including regular plays on BBC Radio 2, 3 and 6Music, they have gone on to achieve awards from Songlines, fRoots and BBC Radio 2. Andy has also been nominated for best producer in the Resolution awards and has, proudly, been nominated twice as best engineer in Yorkshire, he's not yet won that coverted award!

In 2013 Andy produced The Full English, an album that went on to win album of the year at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.

Hudson Records is an exciting new project for Andy, he hopes to introduce some of his favourite artists to new audiences and work with established artists on exciting new projects!

Meet Hudson!

Hudson is about 9 or 10 years old, he was rescued in 2010 from a dog rescue centre in Chesterfield. It took Hudson about 9 months to settle in and get used to living in Yorkshire but after that he never looked back. Today he has been credited with 'thanks' on lots of records as well as having had a tune written for him 'Hudson's Hornpipe' on Bellowhead's 2010 album, 'Hedonism’.

With all the time Hudson has spent in the studio, his experience of being at gigs and spending so much time around World class musicians, setting up a record label was the next logical step for this wonderful and much loved hound!
